The Diagnostic Protocol: What to Expect

At Southwest Canine Ethology, we don't just train for "compliance" we look for resolution. Your 90-minute initial Behavioral Diagnostic is a systematic investigation into the neurobiology, environment, and communication of your dog.

Frequently asked questions

Before I step onto your property, I have already reviewed your comprehensive intake form. This isn't just paperwork it's the first step in our investigation process. I analyze:

  • Medical History: Identify potential physical contributors to behavioral shifts.

  • Environmental Mapping: Assessing the triggers and "pressure points" in your dog's daily life.

  • Drive Assessment: Determining if the dog's biological needs are being met or stifled.

Phase 2: Neutral Observation

When I arrive, my goal is to be "neutral stimulus."

  • The "No-Touch" Period: I do not interact with the dog immediately. I am observing respiration rates, pupil dilation, muscle tension, and weight shifts.

  • Safety & Thresholds: If your dog is high-risk, we utilize muzzles or physical barriers to ensure everyone stays safe while I map the dog's "Choice Points."

Phase 3: The "3-Second Rule" Analysis

  • We evaluate how your dog processes stress.

  • This critical micro-analysis allows us to pinpoint the exact moment of cognitive shift ensuring emotional root cause is determined, not just the outward symptoms.

Phase 4: The Strategic Roadmap

  • We conclude with a "Clinical Debrief."

  • The diagnostic data is then structured into highly custom Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP). Leveraging world class balanced training frameworks like the advanced NePoPo® system.

  • Then providing the step-by-step metric roadmap for safe socialization, rehabilitation, and long-term handler compliance.

Phase 1: The Bio-Data Review
(Pre-Arrival)

"I believe every dog is a study of one. My job is to listen to what they are saying before they have to scream."
